The Bikini Tiki Bar Factory is a family owned business that is the creation of Felicia and Craig Christensen, owners of Barcelona Shade & Iron Works. For years Craig and Felicia have produced some of the most beautiful and unique wrought iron patio and custom metal furniture in the country.

The history of the company really goes back several years ago when Felicia and Craig were living in the mountains of the Toiyabe National Forest. That's when Felicia began designing and creating willow furniture as a hobby. People visiting loved the furniture and Felicia used to give it to those friends who wanted it. One weekend she was invited to bring some of her furniture to a local fleamarket. Felicia brought 10 pieces with her and ended up selling all 10 pieces within 2 hours. She left with orders for 22 more. Felicia and Craig created Barcelona Willow Company, with Felicia making furniture from her original designs.

On a trip to Mexico, Felicia got an idea for a bar stool with a palm tree design. But this time she wanted to make it out of metal. They met a metal craftsman who had a factory in Mexico and partnered with him to begin making the many creations that Felicia would dream up. They started Barcelona Shade & Iron Works and began producing patio furniture, tables, chairs, lattice arches, wine racks, swings, loveseats, beds and making custom designs for many repeat clients.

Since Craig had been a builder for 14 years, he got the idea to apply the building techniques he had learned into making palapas and tiki bars. He believed he could make a stronger product that was easier to assemble and more durable than what was being offered by other companies. With his first project he developed a two-piece Palapa kit that was so simple to put together a 7 year old could do it using a screwdriver. Then he began designing Tiki Bars, and built them with handmade ceramic tile counter tops, made the roof stronger by using 6-inch spacing between roof supports and used only superior-grade pine for durability.
